Homestead Work Day & Demise Of The Garden

Chicken update as requested by many. I was cleaning out the storage tent and putting things away today. I was also unpacking boxes, sorting and condensing the contents. Putting away what would fit into the tiny house.

I am trying to unpack as many of my storage boxes as I can to reduce the amount of storage space needed. I want to get the insulated shed set up as soon as possible so I have to empty the tent and move it out of the way asap.

I was working in the tiny house kitchen, emptying the cabinets and making space for the stuff that belong in my kitchen.

Melanie can help me sort though what is left when she gets here. I have a ton of items from my days of living on the grid. There are boxes of appliances that I will never use again so it is time to let go.

When Melanie is here she will be the boss of the kitchen and she can pick what items she wants to use and we will give away or sell the rest.

I am also sorting through boxes of books. I have to pick and chose what I keep and what goes away. A tiny house does mean reducing your possessions a bit.

The garden is dead. We had a 20 degree deep freeze one night and that was the end of my beautiful garden. Well, it was not beautiful but it sure gave me some nice meals.

I still have some cold hardy vegetables and herbs that I can use for some winter vitamins.

The chicken flock is greatly reduced since the break in when I was away. Someone or something flattened the entire wall of the chicken coop and let the birds out. Then raccoons had their way with the birds and killed a bunch. Some birds were injured and died later of their wounds.

I still have some pretty birds though. Next year I hope to have better security at the homestead to prevent predators of any number of legs.

Thank you for watching.
