Working On Hot Running Water In My Tiny House & Disaster

I spent the day installing the plumbing for my tiny house hot water. After getting cold running water the previous day now it was time to get the hot water going.

I have a Triton propane on demand water heater that someone sent me two years ago. I plan to use this to heat the water for my tiny house on wheels.

I ran the red PEX tubing from the tiny house bathroom through to the kitchen and attached one end to the kitchen faucet with a shut off valve.

The other end I cut and then made a couple Y adapters to connect the bathroom sink and the shower fixtures. I still have to mount the shower faucets but for now the plumbing is there with shut off valves.

Outside I ran the PEX pipe through the wall of the tiny house and into the bathroom. Inside I made the final connection to the tiny home plumbing.

Back outside I cut the cold water line and put a Y connector in place to run cold water to the water heater.

From the output of the water heater I ran a line to the tiny house hot water lines.

Now everything was in place and I was ready for the final test.

I first pressured up the cold water lines to be sure my new splice did not leak. Next I opened the valve to the hot water heater, allowing cold water to enter the heater.

Next I connected a 20 lb propane tank to the water heater and then turned on the hot water valve. The heater immediately fired up but there was a problem.

Water was spraying out everywhere. I was destroyed. I was so saddened by this. I was so much hoping to have hot running water in the tiny house on wheels this day. But the water heater is leaking out water badly. It cannot be used like this.

I went inside and spent the rest of the afternoon looking for a replacement heater. I found one on Amazon and immediately ordered it with a 2 day shipping so I can finish the tiny house plumbing this week.

Thanks for watching.
