Finished Off Grid Tiny House Radiant Foil & Furring Strips

I finished the radiant foil and furring strips in the last wall of my tiny house on wheels. I am working in the loft study room of my off grid tiny home.

After putting up the last of the radiant foil, I was left with just tiny little scraps. I had just enough radiant barrier to finish the entire house without another trip to the lumber yard. This was such a relief because I wanted to finish this today.

I then put on the furring strips to leave a gap in front of the radiant barrier. Radiant barrier works by blocking the passage of radiant heat. To work properly it needs at least 3/4 inch gap on the foil side. Since mine is double sided this means that it will block heat from entering the tiny house in summer and it will block heat from leaving in winter.

I managed to finish the entire room on this day. Now I can start on the OSB sheathing next. I plan to put on OSB first to cover the walls. Then I will use pallet wood or barn wood on top of that. The reason for the OSB is that my walls are spaced 24 on center and the pallet boards are only 40 inches long. To use the pallet boards I would either have to cut them all at 24 inches, wasting a lot of wood, or use OSB as a nailer behind the boards.
