Making An Off Grid Maple Syrup Evaporator

I started making my off grid maple syrup evaporator using an old wood stove and some stainless steel pans.

I built a sugar shack in the woods for processing my maple syrup. Now I have to make a maple syrup evaporator and get started boiling down maple sap.

I first had to bring up cement blocks to the sugar shack. This was a job in itself because the ground is muddy and the cement blocks are heavy.

I managed to manhandle the wood stove on top of the cement blocks and got it into place where it will stay in the sugar shack.

I also put my meat smoker on blocks to keep it from rusting from the ground moisture.

I started to work on the evaporator stove by removing the heat shielding.
