Car And Jeep Maintenance Day At The Off Grid Homestead

I attempted again to get the brakes on my car replaced but the piston is not moving at all. The previous owner of the Jeep showed up with a whole mess of parts. I worked on the Jeep gas tank.

First I tried to get the car brake caliper piston retracted but it is not moving in any direction. Sadly there is mixed advice about which direction I should turn it. I have no better advice now than I got from online research. Some say clockwise. Others say counterclockwise. I tried both ways but it is not moving.

I cant find parts nearby so I may have to just order them and wait.

I worked on the Jeep gas tank swap for a while. It took a lot of time to get the filler hose off the tank due to the very tight space I had to work in. But eventually I got it off and pushed a hose in the tank.

Next I siphoned off about 18 gallons of gas from the Jeep gas tank. I filled 3.5 gas cans.

The previous owner of the Jeep came over with a load of parts for the Jeep. I have the front seat and the interior trim. As well as many spare parts that are good to have. I have a complete spare rear door assembly, a spare front grill, some windows and much more.

It was raining so I swept the front floor in the Jeep and put in the front passenger seat. Now it is starting to look like a normal vehicle again. I also organized and cleaned out the back of the Jeep a bit. It was crammed full of spare parts when I got it.

Later the rain stopped and I painted the new Jeep gas tank with rubberized vehicle undercoating. I used two entire cans on the tank. One can for the top and one for the bottom. These cans do not cover much at all. But the gas tank will last a lifetime now.

I want to coat the bottom of the Jeep above the gas tank before I put the new one on as well.

This was the last possible day I could drive my Jeep with the temporary inspection. They give you ten days to get a vehicle inspected, repaired and then inspected again. If you do not manage then you dont drive unless you pay for another temporary inspection.

I plan to get the Jeep in good working order before I take it back in for inspection. This means working lights, signals, brakes, horn, wipers, good tires and, of course, a gas tank.

I will take my time and do this vehicle right though. No cutting corners so I will use the undercoating all over the entire bottom of the Jeep.
