Damage Assesment After Winds Blasted The Homestead

Finally the two day wind storm has passed and I went out to assess the damages to my off grid homestead.

I had spent the entire two days chasing things down on the property as the wind tore through here. I was trying my best to keep the tents from being damaged and the contents from blowing all over the place.

My wood shop tent is in shambles. Literally everything inside has been tossed to and fro. The shelves have been knocked over and the tent was moved sideways. This is incredible because each foot has two cement blocks tied to it. Plus there are multiple 80 pound cement bags in between the blocks. The tent has been damaged a bit but will be usable once I get it back in place. I have to empty it and start all over though.

The storage tent held up after I had to pull it out of the woods and manhandle it back into place. I had used tie down straps to replace the ropes which held it in place. The loaded pallet wood shelves served to hold the tent down after it had been ripped away by the winds.

My small engine shop has been totally destroyed. The tent is in the woods, in ruins. It cannot be salvaged. All my small engines and power equipment in in shambles and tossed around.

This tent has been here a long time and withstood many storms with no problem until this day. It was staked down. Tied down. Roped down and more. I thought this tent would never move. I was wrong.

It will take me weeks or months to clean up the mess as there is literally stuff strewn all over the property.

The tiny house and new shed held up well though. There is not a bit of damage to anything at all.

It could have been worse I guess.
