Brought A Siezed Up Old Rototiller Engine Back To Life

The next day I actually got this old garden tiller running properly. This is amazing and feels so good to bring an old machine back to life again.

I had received this last fall as scrap metal. The engine was seized up and would not turn over. I was determined to get this engine running again and use the tiller to till my garden this year.

I went to town and got a carburetor diaphragm. This is a little fuel pump which brings the fuel up from the gas tank to the carb.

This got the engine running finally. Well, sort of. I had problems keeping it running unless I used my hand to vary the throttle speed. I discovered that the governor spring was stretched out so I went back to town to get a new one. Fortunately there is a small engine shop just 5 miles away from me.

While I was over there I also got a new air filter and pre filter for the old rototiller.

I put the new governor spring on the engine. Then I put in the new air filters. The engine fired right up and ran smoothly.

I immediately shut it down and changed the oil. I also changed the gear oil and pumped up the tires to the right pressure.

This old machine has new life brought back into it. I am so happy and excited to have repaired a machine that had a seized engine.

I figure this garden tiller is equal to about a $650 machine today. But this is an older machine and it is built much better than the newer machines on the market these days.

If I take care of this old rototiller, it should serve me for a lifetime of gardening.

I am going to keep this one until I find something better one day, which I doubt.
