Clearing Trees On The Off Grid Homestead

Chris and I are clearing trees to make space for the new chicken run out on the side of the meadow. We are going to clear out the rest of the trees ourselves now.

It will take a lot of time but this way we are working for ourselves and we get to use the fire wood or sell it this winter.

I got the used chainsaw at a garage sale so now I can cut some trees again. This is a pretty decent chainsaw for its size. I cannot cut large trees but smaller ones are no problem for this saw.

Chris is trying out the Ryobi battery powered chainsaw. We both gave it a try. I like the feel of it. I was cutting branches with ease using the Ryobi 18 V cordless chainsaw. But sadly the handle brok off while Chris was cutting a branch. He was pushing downwards and cutting normally when it broke. Now we all know that Chris does not have much strength so this must have been a flaw in the plastic.

I am trying to decide if I want to get this replaced with another one or try something else for Chris later. This saw really makes cutting branches easy. I like it for cutting branches over a gas powered saw just because it is light and not burning hot to use. Plus, if you fall with this saw, it is off. With a chainsaw it is still running and hot to touch.

Our turkeys sometimes follow us around asking for food or foraging for wild edibles. They make cute chirping sounds as they walk together. I really like them.

We dropped a whole lot of trees today. I was also cutting them into logs while Chris stacks them up to cure for later use in the tiny house wood stove.
