The Russian Spring Offensive of 1918 was a huge attempt by the newly formed Soviet government to break the stalemate in World War I and defeat the Austro-Hungarian and German forces. It involved hundreds of thousands of troops and massive artillery bombardments along hundreds of miles of front line.
