Protesters rally, condemning discrimination against sub-Saharan migrants in Tunis
Civil society organizations and journalists have held a march against discrimination in Tunis. Protesters condemned what they consider ‘racial discrimination and fascist discourse’ targeting migrants from sub-Saharan Africa.
Tunisia’s President Kais Saied has come under fire in recent days for referring to sub-Saharan migrants as ‘hordes’ and saying their presence in Tunisia was a demographic threat to the country. The statements were condemned by numerous organizations including the African Union, which called an urgent meeting with Tunisia’s representative to address the matter.
