When Louis XVI summoned the Etats-Generaux, he unleashes a revolution that would change his country and cost his life. This is the story of one of the crucial points in the history of France, and Europe, divided into two parts. The first part, titled La Révolution française: les Années lumière (The French Revolution: The Years of Light) was directed by Robert Enrico. The second part, La Révolution française: les Années terribles (The French Revolution: The Years of Terror), was directed by Richard T. Heffron.
The first part "Les annees lumieres", focuses more on the privileged classes describing the political changes taking place in France as the revolution approaches. We also get acquainted with the three main revolutionaries, Desmoulins, Danton and Robespierre.
