This salt shaker 🧂 looking thing is a tool called Siever. This involves passing a bunch of stones in all sizes through a series of screens with progressively smaller holes. They become sorted into different size ranges based on the size of the holes you select during the shaking process.

Once the stones have been sieved (calibrated) they can than be set into any kind of jewelry piece according to their size category. For example I can now create some gorgeous tennis necklaces with stones that measure 3 mm each.
