Dry Ice Cleaning and Waxoyl Undercoating 1967 Ford "Baja" Bronco
Today we are presenting a unique way to really improve the look of your classic, muscle car or in this case off road vehicle. This particular Ford Bronco for many years competed in Baja. After being rebuilt for an easier life cruising to and competing in the local car show, the owner wanted to perfect to the bottom side of this Ford Truck.
Unfortunately, not all cars and trucks are perfectly clean under the dirt and grime they have accumulated, especially American made cars from the 60’s and 70’s. Fortunately, we have a solution for this. While undercoating can be a bad word to many collectors and can be used to cover up many issues, we use a high grade of coating and a detailed documentation process to rejuvenate nice vehicles like this Bronco.
We dry ice clean everything first, then we paint up the axles and parts that really look better with paint. The last step is to undercoat the “crusty” areas that are clean, but don’t look great using Waxoyl undercoating. This literally makes the vehicle look brand new, without a full body off restoration. If we get a little undercoat where we don’t want it, we can use the Dry Ice Cleaning to correct and detail the look.
If you have a crusty muscle car, custom truck or a pure survivor, give us a call to discuss how we can make your project look new again.
Maximize your Automotive Obsession
Thirty years ago, preserving or restoring a collector car required complete disassembly, prep of each part, and reassembly back to like new spec. The cars were simple, and the components primitive and plentiful.
Fast forward to today, the complexity and lack of replacement parts create an entirely new challenge. The 70's, 80's and 90's era cars collectors are chasing today utilize complex electromechanical systems that require a completely new approach. Plastic materials, delicate computer modules and special coatings from these eras will not survive the harsh chemicals and cleaning methods used in the past, not to mention the current desire to preserve these artifacts instead of taking them apart risking witness marks and/or damage in the process. How will we clean, preserve, and protect these collectibles?
Fortunately, preservation technology and innovation advanced to solve this problem. Dry Ice cleaning offers a way to clean complex automotive surfaces and parts, no disassembly required. A highly trained Dry Ice professional (Dryce®) will remove years of grime from the underbody, engine bay, jambs, external body trim, and interior without disturbing the original factory build or finishes. Often mistaken as a form of abrasive blasting, a properly equipped Dryce® system and trained operator will not harm the finish, gloss or factory build in the cleaning process. In fact, in many cases a Dryce® service can rejuvenate and restore the original look. Utilizing the best methods, along with proven systems and equipment, the Dryce® team will deliver an exceptional and previously unobtainable result.
Unlike traditional pressure washing or steam detailing, the Dryce® process is 100% waterless and dry. The Dryce® process will not introduce moisture into sensitive metal parts and/or electronic parts that may rust or corrode later. In many cases, vehicles produced within the last 20 years have labels warning that pressure washers cannot be used in the engine bays due to risk of damaging sensitive parts.
