Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War (Xbox) Gameplay (Xbox 360 Upscale With Emulation Issues)

Not every original Xbox game that was backwards compatible on the Xbox 360 ran perfectly. As you can see, there are areas in this game where the framerate really dips when running on the 360, verses running it on an original Xbox. It's been years since I have played it on the original hardware, but I don't remember the game having this many issues on the original Xbox.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War was one of the earliest Xbox games I ever bought. My big 4 for owning the system were Shenmue 2, JSRF, Deus Ex: Invisible War, and Panzer Dragoon Orta. My friend had Halo, so I had already played through it enough to not care to own it right once I bought the system. I was in it for the Sega games.

Not to long after buying the system, Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War, and Soldier of Fortune II were lowered in price. I remember they were under $20 brand new, so I picked both of them up. I think they were maybe $15 each. I love this game. I only recently bought the PC version off Steam, as I never owned it despite wanting it for years, and I acquired the PS2 port along the way, but my main experience was the Xbox version of the game which featured two-player coop, and online play.

I only tried it online a couple of times, it did have some dedicated fans on Xbox Live, but the coop feature was great. Honestly, I love this game. I'm playing this on the second from hardest diffculty for this footage, but I have beaten it on "I Am Death Incarnate" before.

The Xbox version is awesome. The PS2 version is also really good, and adds the ability to buy new stats based on points you get for finding the hidden areas which was a great touch. No multiplayer or any extra modes in the PS2 port, but the stat buying mechanic really adds to that game's single player. The PC version, I haven't played a whole lot of yet. I've been meaning to get around to it. Return to Castle Wolfenstein is great no matter which version you play.
