Lesson Description:
I've had students who knew a bunch of awesome seventh chord shapes but were stuck not making progress.

Once they learned the underlying theory of how to make 7th chords, guitar creativity began to excel again and I watched them reach a new level of creativity.

That's what I want for you!

I have a few amazing exercises for mastering 7th chords on the guitar and I can't wait to share them with you over the next few weeks!

It's tempting to dive into those exercises right away because the best learning happens during our hands-on practice, but I'd like to set the stage first and thoroughly explain how to make 7th chords, where they come from, and why they're structured the way they are.

This is a good one—with lots of fun graphics to help you follow along—so if you're curious about theory at all I encourage you to check it out.

Learning how to make 7th chords, guitar theory, and chord construction in general is highly recommended. Being able to investigate where chords come from and how to expand on them for creative applications is a huge benefit on the guitar. Without this knowledge of how to make 7th chords, guitar chord practice is just a game of muscle memory memorization instead of a stimulating exploration of musical possibilities. Muscle memory is necessary but the more ways we know something the better.

I hope you enjoyed this lesson. Let me know what you thought. Thanks! :)
