Lenten Battle

At once the Spirit drove him out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him.

Lent is a liturgical season composed of 40 days and 6 Sundays that prepares us for the great celebration of Easter. It commemorates Jesus’ forty days of testing in the desert as he readied himself to begin his messianic mission and ministry. Forty (40) is always symbolic of being tested and experiencing a struggle. As we await the celebration of Easter—the celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord—we first need to reaffirm (or prepare ourselves for) our baptismal vows to turn away from sin, Satan, and evil and turn towards the Most Holy Trinity through our life and obedience to the Catholic Church.
