This Drill to Get you Shooting Faster! (The Acceleration Drill)

What you need:
USPSA / IDPA style target
Shot timer set to 1 second par time (rentals available at the range)
7 yards (21 ft)

Begin from 7 yards from the target. Start position is compressed ready with both grips on the gun. On the beep, extend your gun, see your sights, prep and press the trigger with the goal of making an "A" hit in under the par time.

Once that becomes comfortable, aim for 2 shots in the par time, then 3 etc. The Purpose of this drill is to get you accustomed to moving the gun quickly and hitting the brakes in order to see the sights and call the shot. The start position also emulates your draw stroke!
