The Mineral Education Coalition released some data last year on the estimated amount of minerals, metals, and fuels that an American born in 2022 will use in their lifetime. This amount is just over 3 million pounds which includes over 55,000 pounds of cement, 250,000 pounds of coal, and over 1000 pounds of copper. Lithium grew 33% from 2020 to 2021 due to its use in batteries, especially electric car batteries.
Each year every American will need 914 gallons of petroleum 94,000 cubic feet of natural gas nearly 3300 pounds of coal to generate the energy we need for just 1 year!
