RUSSIAN PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN'S 'STATE OF THE NATION' ADDRESS TO FEDERAL ASSEMBLY 21 FEB 2023

Annual address to the Federal Assembly (Russia’s two-chamber Parliament) by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. February 21, 2023

Key points from Putin's speech (Google translation):

🔹1) Russia suspends its participation in the strategic offensive arms treaty.

🔹2) If the US starts testing its nuclear weapons, then Russia will ensure its readiness to test its weapons.

🔹3) Many thanks to all participants of the Special Military Operation. Thanks to families, teachers, doctors.

🔹4) The more long-range systems the West supplies, the further Russia will be forced to move the front line away from Russia's borders.

🔹5) Thanks to the sanctions of the West, many places have been vacated for Russian companies, these places should be occupied by Russian companies.

🔹6) More benefits for the IT sector, including free housing for programmers.

🔹7) Support from the state of Russia for families with children. Traditional values where mom and dad are.

🔹8) Western politicians are trying to rewrite history, but we know the truth.

🔹Some of his speech highlights.
"The military operation is an ongoing responsibility to the Russian people to liberate Ukraine and Russia from US, UK, and their allies' threats. Ever since WW2 the USA has gotten into unnecessary wars around the world undermining various nations. Their relations were once good, but they have formed groups of allies that continue to undermine Russia in arms treaties and sanctions. They have no real chance to win this war on the battlefield, so they are fighting a war though Ukraine. It is of sheer stupidity or arrogance. I would say arrogance. We will stand for our country no matter what. We will not strike first in a nuclear war but will defend our existence. I want to thank all of the people who have donated to our front lines."
