Fishing For Food & Using Solar Energy On The Homestead

Melanie and I went fishing in the morning for a "few hours" and did not come back till evening. We are using the energy of the sun all over our homestead this year.

In the morning we put out solar water heaters for our showers. We prefer to save energy by using the sun to heat our water.

Melanie is drying herbs in the sun each day now. Our herb garden is producing nicely and we are stocking up for winter.

I dug up some worms in the compost bin for fishing. It is nice to be able to just dig up some free worms for fishing rather than go to the store for them. We are saving a lot of money this way.

We headed off to the cabin to go out on the lake with our boat. We took a lot of gear but we are happy that we did. We ended up fishing all day.

We only got 7 good fish in the end but it helps put food on the table. We caught a lot of fish during the day but only the 7 were worth keeping.

We hope to offset our food costs by fishing, hunting and raising our own chickens.
