A Day On The Homestead

Fixing machines, mowing lawn, outdoor cooking and more on the homestead.

I got my old Snapper riding lawn mower out and did some maintenance. I paid $20 for this back in New York and brought it back with me.

I hope to keep the engine going for this season and then during the winter I will rebuild the mower.

I used a rotary tool to sharpen the mower blade. I had used this as a brush hog earlier this week so the blade needed some work.

The muffler was loose as well and had to be tightened. it is simple maintenance jobs like this that keep a machine going for many years.

Melanie has been cooking outside in the porch kitchen a lot recently. She prepares entire meals on this now. It saves us gas and also reduces the heat in the house during summer days.

We have been eating more and more from our own supplies this year. We now eat only our own home raised chickens. And we only eat fish that we caught ourselves. This saves us a lot of food already.

Plus now we are eating a lot from out own garden and herbs. The garden is providing more and more all the time so we are saving money on groceries.

I cut the grass today with my Snapper. I really love this thing. It saves me a lot of time and is very comfortable to ride.

I spent a lot of time working on my old computer. I am trying to get all my work files off the old computer still after all this time.
