Brave Cop Busts Window Of Burning Home And Rescued Elderly Lady Trapped Inside
Cops from the USA have been praised by social media users after they broke through a window of a burning house and saved an elderly woman trapped inside.
Bodycam footage released by the Conyers Police Department, in Georgia State, USA, shows officers responding to a house fire call on Sunday morning, 11th February 2023.
But when officers Smith, Samuels, and Wright saw heavy smoke coming from the home and noticed a person trying to get their attention from a window, they immediately rushed to her aid.
When officer Smith realised that the only way to gain access to the person was to break the window, he yelled: "Back up! Back up!"
The video then shows Smith smashing the window and tearing out the blinds and asking: "Can you hear me?"
He then turned towards his colleagues and demanded: "Hey somebody give me a light over here!"
Thinking the person inside was a man, he said: "Where are you at? Where are you at, sir? Can you give me your hand?
"Give me your hand sir, reach out!"
But when he realised that the person inside was barely responsive, he decided to climb inside the smoke-filled room and take her out.
He then said: "Somebody come up to this window and stand by me."
Just seconds later the officer jumped inside and successfully brought the elderly resident to safety, as he carried her to the window and passed her through to officers outside.
Conveys Police Department said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: "Every day Conyers Police Officers come to work to serve those that live and travel through our community.
"Officers never know when the next call will come or what that call will be but they are always prepared.
"Great work by all those involved with this rescue!"
The woman was reportedly treated at a hospital for smoke inhalations but has been released in stable condition.
Meanwhile, the officers received a great amount of praise after the Conyers Police Department posted the video on their Facebook page on Wednesday, 15th February.
Facebook user Lisa Nanette Allender said: "My goodness! Thank you to all of you for saving this life! We are grateful for you!"
User Patti Elrod Healy commented: "Thank you all for your brave service to our community!!"
Then another user, Eleanor Walker, added: "Great job Officer Smith. And the rest of the squad."
