M1 Garand Part Kit Build with Century Arms Receiver

I was recently given an M1 Garand parts kit from a family member (Grandpa S!). The kit came with everything needed to put together an M1, however, it came with a Century Arms Receiver.

I took the parts to Warpath Vintage in Denver CO and man, I am GLAD I DID!!! The owner (Chuck Moline) was taking a vacation break, but volunteered to look over the parts, when I brought them to him, he quickly diagnosed that the barrel was shot out and pretty much useless, and the receiver was not mil-spec. He did some research and decided to put it together, and even sold me a "new" 30-06 barrel (for the M1 Garand) and an almost impossibly low price (don't tell him I told ya!).

Needless to say, we were stoked (my son and I) to have a functional M1 Garand - but would it run? We bought some 30-06 ammo made for the M1, and set out (finally... it took FOREVER to get us both to the range) and WOW, what an incredible rifle!!!

I LOVE the M1 Garand - we have a non-collector rifle that we won't feel bad shooting, and at just under 50 yards, we are hitting paper and getting some great groups (for us). I'm positive this baby will get tighter and tighter to shoot, and since I'll be reloading, I can tune down the ammo to keep this baby running for a long time!

I hope you enjoy the video - we sure did enjoy shooting the rifle!!!
