The San Andreas Tsunami of 2015 was a devastating natural disaster that struck the coast of California around 2 am on December 7, 2015. A magnitude 7.2 earthquake offshore triggered the tsunami, which caused extensive damage and flooding along the coast. Waves up to five feet high swept through parts of Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Francisco, flooding roads and homes, destroying docks and boats, and damaging cars and buildings. At least three people were killed and over a hundred were injured. Over $100 million in damages were reported in the aftermath of the disaster.
