Ice Lake & Matterhorn: Wallowa Mountains in Eagle Cap Wilderness. OR USA!

Fantastic hike in... plan on spending a couple of days to really enjoy the scenery and all that the hike in, Ice Lake and the Mountains have to offer. The Hike up to Ice Lake, depending upon which route you select is about 15.5 miles-ish round trip. That is just to the lake mind you. To Matterhorn from Ice Lake is only 4.4 miles round trip or so.

Camping at Ice Lake is amazing... and the GOATS ROCK! You will hear them running around your tent down by the Lake if you are lucky. When you see them up in the Mountains though give them plenty of respect because they can and will defend themselves against perceived threats. When I go back I will also add the excellent Sacajawea Peak to my hike accomplishments list in addition to revisiting our very own Matterhorn.
