FM Transmitter Antenna. Assembly, Install and Range Test. Just how far can this thing go?

A lot of people have contacted me over the past year asking just how far these tiny FM radio transmitters can go. Curiosity finally got the better of me, so I decided to test out this 1/4 wave outdoor antenna before passing it along to a person in the community that want's to start his own station. The results were kind of a surprise. With 5 times the output power of my part 15 AM transmitter, I figured this thing would travel at least an extra mile over the AM setup. Instead, the AM transmitter meets or beats the FM setup at it's lowest setting.
From what I've been told, at full power (But not likely legal a that power level) these will do a solid 5 to 6 miles in the flat parts of the world.
