Liberal MP Mary Ng was laughed at while trying to defend the Liberal track record on helping small businesses during question period. It's not surprising, however, that she was met with laughter and ridicule when the scandal-plagued Liberal government has done so little to help small businesses.

In December, Ethics Commissioner Mario Dion determined Ng broke the law when she personally participated in her office’s awarding of two contracts to Alvaro’s company. Alvaro volunteered on Ng’s election campaign in 2017 and described the minister as a “dear friend” on social media.
