Driving into the Restricted Desert Area inside of Big Bend Ranch State Park #bigbendranchstatepark

This is a narrated video, with footage from a GoPro Hero 10 camera, as we drove our Toyota Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition SUV into the desert. Our #Highlander is the AWD model and had a "trails" function for the traction, which did help out on some of the steeper sections of the dirt road. Calling it a "road" might be a misnomer, as the park just runs a bulldozer or earth mover along the road to smooth it out every few years or so.

We were there in January 2023 as part of the #BigBendUltra cross country trail run inside the park. No cellphone communications possible inside the park, only Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) operators could communicate from the 5 Aid Stations on the course. They offered 10k/20k/30k/50k and 80k courses.

Driving into this area of the park is highly restricted. Only because of the race, did we get authorization to drive in the park and there were multiple restrictions on such points as where we could drive or park. The "road" is just a single lane in most places, causing some "fun" when two vehicles met going in opposite directions.
