Dramatic Moment Suspect Drags Pet Bulldog By Its Leash While Trying To Flee

This is the dramatic moment police in Atlanta arrest an armed suspect wanted for aggravated assault who tries to flee while dragging his dog behind on a leash.

Body-worn footage obtained by Newsflash from the Atlanta Police Department, which released the video on 10th February, shows the suspect, identified as Michael Hardeman, being approached by officers as he is walking his bulldog.

The incident reportedly took place in the city of Atlanta, Georgia, USA, on 3rd February.

It began as Officer Hurst, and Officer Duncan were reportedly made aware of a wanted person in the area of Victoria Pl. SW, according to a statement obtained by Newsflash from the Atlanta police.

The officers located the person, i.e. Hardeman, and attempted to question him.

While questioning Hardeman, he began backing away and was then seen fleeing on foot while dragging his dog.

While in the foot pursuit, Hardeman reached into his waistband and pulled out a firearm.

Fortunately, Hardeman attempted to discard the firearm rather than use it.

One officer deployed their taser and took the suspect into custody.

The firearm that was discarded was quickly recovered.

Hardeman had multiple warrants for Aggravated Assault out of the City of Atlanta and Dekalb County.

He was also placed under arrested for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers.

The dog was unharmed during the incident and returned home.

The Atlanta Police Department commends the patience and courage these officers displayed during a dangerous encounter with an armed felon.
