Find The Lady by David Ellis

A BBC Radio thriller serial starring Noel Johnson, best known as the voice of the title hero of the BBC Radio adventure series DICK BARTON, SPECIAL AGENT.

Andrew March is a dealer in second-hand cars. He does make a good living, but his wife Joyce does insist on living somewhat beyond their means.

The whole business started when Marsh took a girl out to dinner one night while his wife was away and discovered the next day that he had lost his cheque book. The police began taking an interest in the cheque book's loss (AND Marsh) when cheques from the missing book, signed "Derrick Browne", were passed in various stores...and quite naturally bounced.

While Marsh would rather forget that the whole thing happened, its loss causes the police to suspect him of being part of the gang responsible for passing off the dud cheques. Now he has to try and clear his name, but that's easier said than done...especially when his best friend, who introduced the girl to him, is killed in a hit-and-run and it looks like the friend was mixed up in the dud cheque racket! Add the fact that Marsh's wife mysteriously vanishes and he's warned to "lay off" if he ever wants to see her again!

Now Andrew Marsh is on the run from the police AND hunted by the criminal gang. Hopefully he can clear this whole mess up and rescue his wife.

That is, if he can stay alive long enough...
