Indiana state Sen. Vaneta Becker votes for bill to centralize public health

Sen. Vaneta Becker of Evansville, Ind., votes ‘yes’ on Senate Bill 4, which will take autonomy away from county health departments and centralize public health decisions at the state level, under the Indiana Department of Health. The bill was produced by the Governor’s Public Health Commission, which was co-chaired by Judy Monroe, the head of the CDC Foundation, the private arm of the CDC that is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and many pharmaceutical companies.
