Pocket Pistol .25 ACP
The .25 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) is a small, lightweight cartridge that was first introduced in 1906 by Fabrique Nationale de Herstal (FN) in Belgium. The .25 ACP was designed for use in compact, pocket-sized firearms, and its compact size and low recoil made it a popular choice for personal protection.
One of the first firearms to use the .25 ACP cartridge was the FN Browning Model 1906, which was designed by John Browning and manufactured by FN. The Browning Model 1906 became very popular in Europe and was widely used by civilians and police officers as a backup or concealed carry weapon.
In the United States, the .25 ACP cartridge was introduced by Colt in 1908 with the release of the Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket pistol. This small, pocket-sized firearm was designed for concealed carry and quickly became popular among American civilians and law enforcement officers.
Over the years, many other manufacturers have produced firearms chambered in .25 ACP, including Beretta, Walther, and Iver Johnson. Despite its small size, the .25 ACP has been used in a number of high-profile crimes and incidents, including the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963, where Lee Harvey Oswald used a .25 ACP pistol.
Today, the .25 ACP remains a popular cartridge for pocket-sized firearms, and it is widely used for personal protection and concealed carry. Although it is not as powerful as other cartridges, the .25 ACP is still a reliable and effective cartridge for close-range self-defense.
