Bison wallowing. Wallowing is a behavior in which they roll in the dirt and mud to protect themselves from insects. During mating season, it can also be used as a dispay of aggressive behavior to try to intimidate rivals to avoid having to fight.

The kicking up dust can also be used as a display of aggression towards rivals.
