Law and Grace - Part 11
The lesson on February 12, 2023 was part 11 of the “Law and Grace” study. This weeks lesson focused on asking the question “What is a crime?” Wayne presented a graphic where the outer area represented righteous thoughts and actions and a circle within that represented sin and an area within that reflects crimes. In this way it is clear but what is happening today is the crime area is floating outside the area representing sin and crossing into the righteous area. Paul speaking to “The Body” deals with sin. Thoughts: Phil. 4:8; Speak truth, Do not lie, Do not bear false witness: Eph. 4:25, Col. 3:9, Titus 2:3; Do not steal: Eph. 4:28; Do not participate in the works of darkness: Eph. 5:11 and Do not be a complainer: Phil. 2:14. We then looked at a long list of verses in the Old Testament that referenced “sin” which was very long. We then were reminded that in the ACTS a change of the LAW was made (Heb 7:11-18). This change was referring to the Law of Christ, where the Law is written in their hearts so Israel may obey them. This is a prophetic with Israel during the Millennium. Paul teaches in Romans for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. In Galatians 3:21-25 Paul tells us that “But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.” We then closed with Titus 2:11-14 “2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,1 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;1 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” This is why PAul always references Christ Jesus and our relationship to Christ in this age because we are complete in Him and the Law of Christ.
The scripture reading was from Leviticus 23:4-8 KJV “4 These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. 5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord’s Passover. 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. 7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. 8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.”
