450 thousand dollars was surreptitiously attempted to be taken out of the donations that Canadians made for the truckers and their families. There was no announcement around it, and when I started asking questions about it, I realized I was on to something.

The public understands that the donations, the money for the truckers and their families, is inaccessible as it is frozen by court order and is in escrow, but lawyers for the corporation known informally as "freedom corp" have used funds on occasion unbeknownst to those even on the board of directors.

Mr Norman Groot was hired by the JCCF to lift the mareva injunction on the freedom corp's assets. A mareva injunction is a freezing of all assets including any new fundraising. A deal was struck with Paul Champ to only freeze the current funds, but not any future fundraising enabling the freedom corp to do their own fundraising.

This never happened, and the JCCF has remained the donation destination given all social media messaging.

This group of lawyers, led by Mr Keith Wilson, of the Wilson Law Office, wrested control of both the Twitter and Facebook page for the Freedom Convoy. This facebook page has over 370k followers and is by far, the largest portal for freedom convoy social media messaging. The twitter account was personally transferred to Keith Wilson.

The lawyers now make decisions without any public scrutiny, and are effectively the public personas for the freedom convoy.

Mr Norman Groot applied to the court to receive 100,000 from the escrow funds. It was only discovered by the board, when the acting president and treasurer read through the court documents and informed the rest of them.

When the acting president, and treasurer of freedom corp Mr Chad Eros CPA, corresponded with John Carpay president of the JCCF, and Keith Wilson, of Wilson Law Office, he asked for the JCCF to reimburse "freedom corp" for the $100,000 that Mr Groot took from the escrow funds. His reasoning was the funds were for the truckers and their families, and the JCCF had been raising funds for truckers legal fees and defense, and it was clearly stated in the retainer contract that all legal fees are on a pro bono basis.

The response by Keith Wilson was to threaten to leave the freedom corp and board without any legal representation. The rest of the board members were pressured, felt scared and threatened, and acquiesced to staying silent. This was echoed when the lawyers took full control of the Facebook page as a condition of representation.

Mr John Carpay in March 2022 communicated that the JCCF had already raised $212,000 specifically designated for Freedom Convoy / truckers legal defence. He mentioned that any surplus would be going to Norman Groot to pay him out and estimated that his bill could very well be over $75,000.

And yet, the JCCF did not pay Mr Groot and the money instead came from the escrow funds for the truckers and their families. For the acting president and treasurer's troubles, Mr Chad Eros was targeted by Mr Keith Wilson, and eventually resigned under duress. He was invited back by the freedom corp board of directors some time later, as they chafed under the yoke and felt powerless against Mr Keith Wilson and his edicts. Eventually Mr Chad Eros, treasurer, CPA, again faced difficulty with the board and legal, as he strove to maintain accountability around the funding, and this time was removed by the rest of the board in September 2022 due to quote "you harassing and abusing legal counsel on several occasions." The paper trail is quite documented, as Mr. Eros saved all emails, and electronic communication between himself, board members, John Carpay President of the JCCF, and Keith Wilson, of the Wilson Law Office.

The JCCF continued their fundraisers while the public perception was that they were acting on a pro bono basis defending freedom and the freedom convoy.

After paying themselves over $100,000 from protest funds, the lawyers applied to the inquiry to pay themselves another $450,000 to appear at the Public Order Emergency Commission, all the while fundraising continued at the JCCF as they maintained the image of being pro bono lawyers.

I ask for transparency and cooperation as we here at the WARCAMPAIGN unearth the truth.

It always struck me as self-serving as social media influencers, professional political activists, aspiring politicians, and politically connected lawyers took the limelight, as the actual Canadian people and the truckers present at the freedom convoy receded into the background and were almost forgotten over the past year.

Calls for unity, notwithstanding, the truth must come first.
