ITALIAN WINES: 1) THE VENETO. Discovering Italian wines region by region.

VENETO
Venetian wines, Amarone della Valpolicella, Prosecco, volcanic wines
The Veneto region is one of the main wine-producing regions in Italy, and its consumption, along with typical products and dishes of traditional gastronomy, is still deeply rooted in the territory. The vines, which yield both white and red wines, are grown both in the flat area, rich in waterways, and on the hilly belt, which is distinguished by fertile soil and a mild climate.

In some production areas such as Soave, Gambellara and Lessini Durello the vines particularly benefit from the volcanic soil.

The most popular Veneto wines in Italy and abroad are produced in the province of Verona, where we find, among others:
the Bardolino
the Soave
the Lugana
the Valpolicella Doc
the famous Amarone della Valpolicella.

Moving toward the province of Vicenza we encounter:
the Lessini Durello DOC,
the Gambellara
the Tai (until recently known as Tocai),
the sweet raisin wine Torcolato
the Vespaiolo,
Merzemino DOC.

In the province of Padua it is vinified:
the Colli Euganei Doc
the DOCG Fior d'Arancio

Between the provinces of Treviso and Venice are produced:
the Montello and Colli Asolani,
the Conegliano Valdobbiadene (land of the famous Prosecco Superiore DOCG),
the Piave
the Lison-Pramaggiore DOC.

Among dry sparkling wines suitable for an aperitif, Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore cannot be ignored, in the traditional Extra Dry version, or in the Brut version to accompany an appetizer.
