Digital pound could be coming to England

in a joint report by the U.K.'s Treasury and the Bank of England A digital pound is "likely to be needed in the future" .

This isn't final approval of a plan to launch a central bank digital currency, but indicates that officials are leaning very heavily in favor of one.

Roadmap and planning is underway as well as a public consultation.
