African-American Inferiority & Feminism
JB Quinnon
The modern African-American suffers from a severe inferiority complex compared to White americans. The African-American can never be satisfied with their own definition of success, we feel that if we don't have access to everything white people have access to that we are living in lack. In the 1950s the average middle class family could not afford to travel, but upper middle class white families could travel. As a result African Americans feel like they haven't reached success if they can't mimic the activities and and social status of upper middle class white families even though a poor person in 2022 has access to a larger number of social activities compared to those in the 1950s. In the 1960s black success revolved around the unity of the family regardless of what the household income was. Black people have convinced themselves if they can't take an expensive vacation, go to high-end restaurants on a regular basis and where High fashion clothes that their life is less than significant and their accomplishments aren't as prestigious as those that they see a superior. As the idea of white supremacy exists then so much the paradigm of black inferiority. To be inferior is to place a greater significance to a group of people who have access to a set of skills or activities, even though this may or may not improve the quality of life, those with an inferior complexity will always measure their value based off of those that they see as superior. This is why feminist s are clearly suffering from an inferiority complex compared to the most successful man, which is why they feel like they have not reached success unless they do everything that a successful traditional man would do. Have their house, have a car, have a career and not need the financial support of their spouse, therefore a woman feels inferior to men that she sees Superior and she must do all of those activities in order to feel strength. A strong person can define their own ideology of success and strength based off of their traditions and moral fortitude, a week person has to be better or equivalent to who they see at Superior
The African-American community has a deep-seated sense of inferiority compared to White Americans. This is due to a belief that success can only be measured by access to the same privileges and luxuries that upper-middle-class White families have, such as travel and high-end fashion. This mentality is a result of the lasting effects of white supremacy and the perpetuation of black inferiority. However, in the past, the African-American community placed greater value on family unity, regardless of income, as a measure of success.
Similarly, feminists are also suffering from an inferiority complex towards successful men. They feel they must meet the same standards of success and independence, such as owning a house, car, and having a career, in order to feel equal.
In contrast, a strong individual defines success and strength based on their own cultural traditions and moral principles, rather than comparing themselves to others. A weak person, on the other hand, feels the need to be equal or better than those they perceive as superior.
