News Correspondent Arrested During Ohio Governor's Press Conference

NewsNation's Washington Bureau Chief Mike Viqueira has confirmed that their correspondent Evan Lambert is currently detained in the Columbiana County Jail after being arrested while reporting live at a press conference with the Ohio Governor and local officials near the train wreck in East Palestine.

Lambert called from the jail, where he is being charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, and could remain detained until 8:30 ET tomorrow. Viqueira noted that Lambert was acting with professionalism and integrity when his arrest took place and was doing his job - the same job countless other journalists do without incident.

The bureau chief stated that NewsNation is doing everything it can to help secure Lambert's release as soon as possible and added that they are grateful for viewers' support as they work to ensure their correspondent's safety.
