September 1553: Two ships take refuge from the arctic winter in an inlet on the Kola Peninsula. The ships were well stocked with food and warm clothes. Despite this every man would perish before the spring of 1554.

These two ships, under the command of Sir Hugh Willoughby, had left England in May 1553 to find a northeast passage to the orient.
