LEADERS LOOK BENEATH THE SURFACE NARRATIVE AND INTO THE DEEPER MEANING

“Most people are unaware how much they reveal in the words they do not say. The little white lies, omissions, altered meanings and misrepresentation are equal parts subconscious and subversive. Some communicators are crafty and intentional in what they say and don’t say. Other communicators are simply trained to echo what they have heard before and the presence or absence of certain terms is outside the scope of their awareness or intent. They are dutifully following the narrative. Either way, leaders must listen for the agenda in the blank spots so they can proactively encounter the dangers and lead the narrative on their own.” J Loren Norris
