Falcon Menace M14 4-14x44mm FFP Rifle Scope Review
The Falcon Menace 4-14x44mm FFP IR goes to the range! I purchased the Falcon Menace 4-14x44mm FFP (First Focal Plane) rifle scope as a replacement for an Osprey Mil-Dot scope that went bad on my AR-15. The decision took a while; my budget was pretty tight and I was looking for a combination of uncommon features. Eventually I ran across this Falcon scope, and it seemed to have the core benefits and features that I wanted: good Japanese glass, mid-range variable magnification, a precise Mil-Hash reticle in the first focal plane, side focus, and Milliradian turrets. Although the scope has a few drawbacks, the overall "bang for the buck" is excellent.

A couple of notes to answer foreseen questions:
1. The rifle, scope, and magazine are covered in a four-color Duracoat emulation of USMC Marpat Digital Woodland camo. This took for-freaking-ever. The colors aren't quite a match for MARPAT, but they're close enough.
2. The scope rings are Leapers UTG 30mm extra-high quick-release rings that use cam levers instead of wing nuts. These things are very, very good. I remove the scope every time I head home from the range, and I have had no problems with the zero shifting on me between sessions.
3. The rifle under the paint is a Rock River Arms CAR A4 with their heavy stainless barrel chambered in .223 Wylde. The Wylde chamber really is as good as the rumors indicate, and I don't think I'll ever get an AR barrel without it.
