INSTALLING THE CABIN FLOORING | OFF GRID TIMBER FRAME HOMESTEAD

In this DIY off grid cabin build, we finished the construction of the charred board and batten exterior on the timber frame cabin on the homestead in the Great Smoky Mountains using self-reliant skills from both modern and traditional hand tools in the woodwork from our own sawmill, we incorporated raised bed gardening, have a hobbit style chicken house pen, compost toilet, added a front porch to the cabin, an exterior rock foundation and the interior using wildwood trim from slab wood, and starting the plans for our new sawmill building, workshop and kiln, finishing up the woodland lot and begin laying the flooring for the cabin. Mortise and tenon are the basic frame work on the 7 x 7 post and beam along with the 7 x 10 beams that support the floor joist. We hope you will follow us through the final stages of the cabin build, root cellar, basecamp and future buildings for the homestead.
