Beneath The Canopy | Creating Better Habitat (Better Deer Woods) Using TSI

Shawn Luchtel of Heartland Bowhunter and Joel Taylor of the Midwest Land Group perform Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) on Shawn's 80-acre tract of land. Follow along as they use the onX Hunt App's aerial imagery and Shape Tool to determine the areas with the thickest canopy and create a plan to thin out the softwoods on Shawn's new parcel. In doing so, they not only create better browse for Deer and native habitat for all wildlife but also increase the value of the property. TSI creates more food for wildlife by allowing more light to reach the forest floor, as well as eliminating competition for hardwoods such as oak and hickory.
