In this video, we are going to explore all the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system destroys the pancreatic beta cells responsible for producing insulin, leading to an absolute insulin deficiency. It usually occurs in earlier in life and requires daily insulin injections or pumps. Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency, in which the body still produces some insulin but it is not used properly. It is more commonly diagnosed in adults and it is possible to be managed or even reversed through lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise, though some may also need oral medications or insulin therapy if it is not taken care of on time.
