Your Next Mission® Season #3 EP 22 | Celebrating Black History Month 2023, “Black Resistance”

84

In honor of Black History Month 2023, we are joined with special guests GEN (R) William “Kip” Ward and CSM (R) Tonya Oxendine to discuss this year’s theme, “Black Resistance,”. In this episode, this powerful discussion with SMA Tilley explores how African Americans have resisted historic and ongoing oppression, in all forms, especially racial terrorism, racial pogroms, and unequal rights, while striving to establish a sense of belonging through monumental contributions.

When Carter G. Woodson established Negro History week in 1926, he realized the importance of providing a theme to focus the attention of the public. The intention has never been to dictate or limit the exploration of the Black experience, but to bring to the public’s attention important developments that merit emphasis.
