New 2023 Volkswagen TERAMONT X-Amazing sports SUV design specs

Volkswagen unveiled the facelifted TERAMONT X in China, which is a slightly redesigned version of the Atlas Cross Sport produced by SAIC for the Chinese market. The debut follows an earlier leak from China's Ministry of Industry and Information.

The TERAMONT X, originally launched in 2019, is one of the numerous SUVs offered by the German company in China, and a sportier version of the regular TERAMONT (Atlas). When the latter was revamped in 2021, we'd expect the same visual changes to carry over to the TERAMONT X, which at the time received light trim updates.

While the SUV's profile remains largely unchanged and identical to the North American Atlas Cross Sport, the visual updates to the front end are quite substantial, helping the Chinese model to stand out even more. Model pictured is a high-spec R-Line trim with high-gloss black accents throughout the bodywork, a set of 21-inch five-spoke wheels finished in black and red brake calipers.

It looks like VW's designers have used the "duplicate" tool in the headlamps, with units split on each side with matrix LED graphics inspired by modules on computer chips. The grille has also been overhauled with a single strip of light down the middle. Last but not least, the updated bumper features larger interconnecting intakes, surrounded by glossy black trim in typical R flavor.

At the rear, the TERAMONT X facelift is distinguished by a new glossy black panel that integrates the full-width taillights with modern LED graphics, the illuminated VW badge and the TERAMONT X lettering in the middle. The sporty rear bumper is finished in gloss black with faux exhaust pipes under large reflector lights. VW also announced the addition of a new exterior shade called Wilderness Green.
