Fans of Futurama, rejoice! After much anticipation, the beloved animated sci-fi comedy is officially coming back, with the show's original cast returning to bring the beloved characters to life. After its initial run, which aired on Fox and Comedy Central, followed by four direct-to-DVD movies and a Netflix special, Futurama is now set to be rebooted as a Hulu exclusive.

The series creator, Matt Groening, and his writing partner, David X. Cohen, will be returning to help develop new episodes of the show and the original cast will be reprising their roles, including Billy West as the main character, Philip J. Fry, Katey Sagal as Leela, Phil Lamarr as Hermes, and Maurice Lamarche as Kif, Morbo, and Calculon. While John DiMaggio originally voiced Bender, there was a brief drama around his return, as he entered negotiations to reprise his role for a pay raise, but eventually returned without an increase in salary.

The plot for the reboot is being kept under wraps, however we do know that the original series ended with an episode titled ‘Meanwhile’, in which Professor Farnsworth builds a time machine that allows Fry and Leela to travel into the future and see their lives together, growing old and travelling the world. The time machine then resets the series from the beginning, leaving fans with a cliffhanger.
