At the end of the second week of the Murdaugh murder trial and it seems there are still questions outstanding. Murdaugh wasn't the only major legal news this week, with disgraced attorney Tom Girardi being indicted and Alec Baldwin charging instrument finally being released. Alex Murdaugh Murder Trial Week 2 - The trial of former South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh concluded a second week of testimony in Colleton County, SC. Murdaugh is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Maggie Murdaugh, and his 22-year-old son, Paul Murdaugh, in the summer of 2021. The state is pushing hard to introduce abundant evidence of financial crimes to support a motive theory and the internet is ablaze with opinions in one direction or the other. Let's review where we stand at the end of week 2.

Tom Girardi Indicted - disgraced former attorney, Tom Girardi (estranged spouse of Erika Jayne, from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), has been federally indicted in California and Illinois on charges he stole more than $18 million from clients. Girardi is said to be suffering from dementia and both his and his law firm, Girardi Keese, are in active bankruptcy cases.

Alec Baldwin Charges Finally Released - after announcing that charges would be filed against Alec Baldwin by the end of the month, the Santa Fe District Attorney formally filed charges on January 31st (technically by the end of the month, but come on...). Let's check out the charging instrument and see where things stand.
