Dune (displayed as Dune: Part One) is a 2021 American epic sci-fi film directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Villeneuve, Jon Spaihts, and Eric Roth. It's the first installment in a two-part adaptation of Frank Herbert's 1965 novel, focusing on the first half of the book. The film is set in a distant future and follows the story of Paul Atreides, whose family, the noble House Atreides, is caught in a war for control of Arrakis, a deadly and inhospitable desert planet.
